Burritos, wonderful things aren’t they? One of Mexico’s proudest culinary exports which literally means ‘little donkey’ in Spanish was largely popularised after its jump over the border where it was re-invented into what is commonly referred to today as the ‘mission-burrito’.
When we’re talking Burritos there’s only one real franchise that comes to mind and that’s Chipotle, for the average Londoner you’ll be happy to know that they have already brought over their adored franchise across the pond. However, unlike their American fast food counterparts such as Shake Shack and Fat Burger, Chipotle, although being open for a few years in London have decided to forego the Halal meat option (collective sigh). If you’re really craving the unmatched taste of a great burrito and the veggie alternative simply won't satisfy your craving we’ve put together our list of five alternative Halal options to gratify your Chipotle dreams…
Disclaimer: All establishments listed are advertised as serving Halal or partially Halal meat and poultry. Methods of Halal certification may vary from restaurant to restaurant so we advise double checking before purchase.
1) Barburrito
The first establishment on our list is Barburrito Mexican Eatery. They serve a variety of different styles of Burritos as well as other Mexican favourites including Tacos and Nachos. The Halal options on their menu include the grilled chicken and steak fillings. Their stores are fairly accessible with over 20 locations in the UK with three based in the capital.

5) Bombay Burrito
Bombay Burrito has added a South Asian twist to the burrito. We’re not sure how hardliners would feel about this one but head down to Angel and you can be served curry… in a wrap. It’s an inventive take on the classic burrito and if you’re a fan of something slightly spicier and want a more compact alternative to a curry this just might be your answer. If you heading down to their store keep in mind that they only serve Halal chicken on their menu.
